April 14, 2004 - San Clemente, CA - It has been almost two months since ZUMA Press photographer ROBERT KING set off for Iraq. Since arriving in Baghdad, he has done a great job covering the gamut, from hard news and assignment work when the action heats up to researching in-depth reportage in his down time.
Some of the stories he has completed include coverage of the almost daily bombings and Iraqi protests, American soldiers hunting Iraqi resistance, Moqtada al-Sadr's army of Mehdi militia (the hooded army of the 12th Imam), the Baghdad Hotel bombing, female soldiers in Iraq, Muslim Shiites celebrating Ashura in Karbala, a look at Iraq's new police force and more.
During the rare lulls in news, King has gone out of his way to research and shoot features including Mandaean Sabians weddings, Baghdad mural artists at work and grouse hunting in wartime Iraq. He also took a good selection of portraits of the U.S.' Presidential Envoy to Iraq, Paul Bremer III, and caught up with the Iraqi boxing team as they trained in Iraq's Olympic Stadium.
King is available for assignments through ZUMA Press. For more information, please contact Ruaridh Stewart, ZUMA's Picture Desk Manager, at 949.494.704. To view more of his work, click here.
ZUMA Cleans Up in Entertainment Weeklies

Longtime KPA-ZUMA entertainment shooter PAUL FENTON had a clean sweep of the leading entertainment and lifestyle magazines this week. With images of COURTENEY COX on the cover of People Magazine, GEORGE CLOONEY on cover of Us Weekly (inset), a great half-page spread of JENNIFER LOPEZ (taken at Nickelodeon's 17th Annual Kids Choice Awards) in InTouch, plus countless other images published in dozens of other magazines, it was certainly a good week for Fenton. Kudos to him for all the great work!
