ZUMA Press and Kargo Deliver Red-Carpet Coverage Directly to AT&T Phone Subscribers |
September 30, 2004 - San Clemente, CA - ZUMA Press, the premiere picture wire service and industry leader in celebrity coverage worldwide, has teamed up with Kargo™, one of the
leading wireless service providers, to launch Red Carpet on AT&T Wireless.
Red Carpet is a fee-based subscription service, available for all AT&T mobile-phone users globally, that delivers celebrity news and photos straight off the red
carpet--from Hollywood, New York, London, Paris and Milan--wherever the celebrities may flock.
Whether it's the reigning diva or the newest upcoming star of the big screen, Red Carpet gets subscribers up to speed on the latest fashion and celebrity happenings with timely updates sent directly to
cellular phones.
"We are proud to partner with ZUMA Press, an established leader in entertainment-news coverage. The variety and quality of their
content is outstanding," says Harry Kargman, president and CEO of Kargo.
"Ease of use has always been a concern for carriers, and building great content for cell phones is difficult," says Bill Radtke,
ZUMA's vice president of worldwide business development. "Kargo solves these issues by streamlining the subscription and
content-delivery process, making it easier for people sign up for and receive the content they want over their cell phones or other wireless devices."
Red Carpet is the first of several subscription services ZUMA and Kargo have signed on to provide to operators globally. The next
two will launch in the weeks ahead.

Who's Shooting What
RICHARD HANNON Lake Baptism: A Rite of Passage

ZUMA's RICHARD HANNON photographed a baptism performed by Rev. EMMANUEL JONES (L) and Evangelist DARRIN DIXON in the waters of Lake
Providence, Louisiana. Even though most churches these days have indoor baptismal pools, some African-American churches still prefer the natural setting for this
important rite of passage. To view the rest of this majestic take, click

MARK SEAGER Gaza Tagging

MARK SEAGER/eyevine spent time in Gaza, where it's impossible to enter any Palestinian refugee camp, village or city without noticing the vibrant colors and meticulous
calligraphy of graffiti on almost every wall. In some places, it's like an unending open-air art gallery that stretches along the entire length of a street onto a
school wall and then into the narrow alley of a refugee camp. The latest news of Palestinian factions can be found within these murals in great detail, but the
graffiti glorifying the dead of 'martyrs' is what one sees most often. To view more Gaza graffiti, click

NIKOS PILOS Asylum Misery

Like most of Greece's institutions for the mentally ill, Theomitor Institution of Social Providence in Lesvos is understaffed, overcrowded and underfunded. Media
attention at the appalling conditions has sparked some public outcry and marginal improvements, but for the most part, these asylums remain neglected by society and
the government. Amidst the sadness, ZUMA photojournalist NIKOS PILOS found a newly formed program that reintegrates patients into
mainstream society. To view more, click

KEVIN UNGER Holy-Land Traditions

In Jerusalem, ZUMA shooter KEVIN UNGER continues to document the traditions of Orthodox Judaism. This week, his coverage includes
takes of the Kaparot ceremony, as well as the practices associated with the week-long festival of Sukkot. To view more, click

Voodoo: Black Magic Religion
Voodoo is deeply rooted in the Caribbean island of Haiti. Although it has been practiced for hundreds of years and was recognized by Haitian officials as an official
religion in 2003, it is still widely misunderstood around the world. Behold its sacred traditions and rituals. Text and photography by Les Stone. To view more, click
