AOL Showcases KING![]() Behind the Lens debuted several months ago in response to a marked interest from AOL users in knowing more about the photographers whose work is found on AOL. Photographers are chosen by AOL's team of world-class photo editors, who review thousands of photos daily. When an image stops them in their tracks, they keep tabs on the photographer that took it. And when they see a name come up over and over again, they know they've found a winner. Once selected, the photographer is asked to provide commentary on the images AOL chooses to showcase, so that readers get a sense for who the photographer is and what it was like taking the photos. "Many many story pitches get brought to our editorial meetings, and most of them get tossed…So being selected for Behind the Lens is quite a statement to Robert's work," said Cathaleen Curtiss, AOL's Director of Photography. AOL's VISIONS Behind the Lens opened up to non-AOL users in December, 2004 and now millions more people are able to enjoy its powerful photography.
