America's World: The Record on Regime Change

When President Bush ordered the pre-emptive invasion of Iraq in March 2003, he put America on a new path in a long history of marching into trouble spots. With the past as prologue for the future, journalists from the San Antonio Express-News revisited four places where the U.S. intervened in the past 20 years to examine how they are doing today, and to draw lessons from their experience.

This special in-depth four-part series includes comprehensive text and photo essays that are available for immediate syndication. Please contact Trish Murphy at 949.481.3747 for details.

zAd Campaigns

zTearsheets

NEW BALANCE (NB) selected an image by ZUMA's CHERYL HATCH to be part of a nationwide campaign that celebrates the amateur athlete. It was chosen because it conveys the passion of those who perform their sports not for financial rewards or fame, but for an internal love of the sport.

"This photo has legs of its own!" said Trish Murphy, ZUMA's VP of Sales. "It first appeared as the page-one photo in the Corvallis Gazette-Times and then exhibited at the Smithsonian in D.C., after which it was published in Game Face: What Does a Female Athlete Look Like? (Random House) and now it's being showcased in an ad campaign. I its popularity stems from the way it captures the moment and mood so perfectly," said Murphy.

The ad made its first appearance this week in Sports Illustrated (March 15, 2005 issue, pages 32-33) and was specifically placed against the Faces in the Crowd column.

zReportage Update

Wonder Women of Eritrea

In honor of Women's History Month, we are proud to present reportage about the courageous efforts of a group of women fighters who fought for change and independence in their country.

For 30 years, Eritrea's women warriors battled side-by-side with men to liberate their homeland from Ethiopian rule. Illiterate and past the desirable adolescent age of marriage, the battle-hardened women veterans returned from the trenches to discover they had yet another war to fight: for equal rights, for freedom from genital mutilation, for economic and educational opportunities.
