Crystal Meth American Tragedy

August 11, 2005 - LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - In a special, in-depth nation wide zReportage report, ZUMA Press photojournalists Mark Allen Johnson, Robert King and Robin Nelson went behind the scenes to find out how America is fighting the methamphetamine epidemic.

Their collective reportage shows that meth use and has spread across every socio-economic and geographic boundary in the nation. From Arkansas to California, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force agents track and bring down clandestine user labs and the more destructive "super labs"--production sites that can churn out enough meth in 12 hours to keep a small city high all day. While slowly killing meth addicts, these labs also kill the environment with hundreds of pounds of toxic byproduct generated during production.

Record Breaking Extremes

Xtreme athletes from around the world descended on Los Angeles for an adrenaline rushing, four days of action at the 2005 X Games 11 weekend event. ZUMA photographer Vaughn Youtz did an awesome of covering the annual event that saw six different Guinness World Records set or broken including longest moto X dirt-to-dirt back flip set by Jeremy Stenberg and longest BMX back flip set by Mike Escamilla.

The Foo Fighters are still going strong, impressing fans at sold out concerts around the world.
