Puerto Rico Media goes Mundial  October 14, 2005 - DANA POINT, Calif. - ZUMA Press added significant depth to its Spanish-language features and entertainment coverage this week by signing a deal with the syndication arm of A Media Company, a Puerto Rico-based Spanish-language media conglomerate that is among the largest Spanish-language publishers in the U.S.ZUMA's editorial clients worldwide can now syndicate the picture content of A Media's 40+ titles including the ever-popular celebrity weeklies Vea Magazine and Te Ve Guia, two of the most widely read Spanish-language entertainment magazines. "We're very proud to secure this deal with A Media," said John Camarillo, ZUMA's sales manager of Latin Markets. "With major movements coming out Puerto Rico such as raggaeton, a music genera that's sweeping the Latin scene, portraits of these and other entertainers are highly marketable worldwide," he said. Who's Shooting WhatNikos Pilos ZUMA Press photojournalist Nikos Pilos is in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir covering the aftermath of the massive earthquake that killed an estimated 23,000 people and injured over 50,000 more. Prior to Pakistan, Pilos was in Turkey, perhaps the only Muslim country where prostitution is legal for all but for transgenders. Despite their persecution by police and civilians alike, approximately 6,000 transgender prostitutes work the streets of Istanbul, Ankara and other Turkish cities. Bea Ahbeck  ZUMA's newest recruit is multi award-winning photojournalist Bea Ahbeck. Ahbeck is a staff photographer of The Argus daily paper in Fremont, California.
