Two major New Orleans refineries took a hit and thousands of acres of ripe cane fields were flooded with salt water. ZUMA photojournalist Jack Kurtz did spent time with sugar producers recently. Temple of Love - by Steve Sandford/ZUMA Press LOPBURI DISTRICT, Thailand - Wat Phra Baht Nam Phu temple provides sanctuary for 400 of the one million Thais suffering from the effects of AIDS. The hospice, setting located about 120 km from Bangkok, was built in 1992 dying patients. Residents say it provides a peaceful and loving environment to prepare for their passing. Click to view more. Urban Combat Training - by Nancy Strogoff/ZUMA Press TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif.- In an effort to prepare themselves for to Iraq, the U.S. Marines from I Marine Expeditionary Force are taking part in "Mojave Viper"--specialized urban warfare training in month-long training cycles. The exercises aim to be as realistic as possible, with training set in simulated Iraqi towns that are populated with Iraqi role players. Marines are forced to interact with the role players to determine if they are friendly, neutral or hostile. Other training scenarios include roadside checkpoints and patrolling in a "souk," a busy Iraqi marketplace. The problem is particularly acute in Uganda where 70,000-100,000 children under five die from the mosquito-borne disease annually. Turyengana Tereza works on the front lines in the fight against Malaria. Armed with just her bicycle, a basket of medication and a pile of posters, Tereza visits rural communities dispensing aid and educating the public on how to prevent the spread of this deadly disease.
