Founded in 1997 by ten of China's top photographers, the agency has dedicated itself to providing hard-hitting images of news events in China for nearly a decade. Gaining worldwide recognition for early reports on the SARS crisis of China in 2003, they went on to produce astounding images of the Zhengbei earthquake in Hebei, the Yantai plane crash, the Chongqing gas leak, and the tragic flood of the Yangtse River.

With 46 relentless photographers, Color China Photo represents the most proficient group of press photographers in China. The agency excels at providing images that span an array of categories as well as uncovers the truth of daily life. Joining forces with ZUMA was an obvious decision as "We have similar characteristics, are full of energy, are not afraid of change, and are aggressive in the market" according to owner Julia Suen.
